In the early 1980's, the Tennessee County Services Association (TCSA) and its members of the County Executives saw the great need that existed in Tennessee for an alternative to the traditional commercial insurance market, and began work to form a self-insured, not-for-profit Workers' Compensation Insurance Program to serve Tennessee Counties and County Agencies. They subsequently formed the Local Government Insurance Pool that operates under the direction of a Board of Trustees made up of elected and appointed officials who have served county government for many years.
The Local Government Insurance Pool is now two separate Funds:
- Local Goverment Workers' Compensation Fund
- Local Government Property and Casualty Fund
These Funds exist for the sole purpose of providing consistent, stable and quality coverage for Tennessee Counties and County Agencies Serving Tennessee Counties. For over thirty years, the Local Government Insurance Pool has proven to be an effective and preferred method of protecting the citizens, employees, and tax dollars of Tennessee Counties.
Both Funds operate under the direction of a Board of Trustees who are in or have served for many years in the public sector. These directors meet on a regular basis with the heads of various departments and organizations that provide services to the Funds.
Our sole purpose and reason for existence is to serve Tennessee Counties and County Agencies.
